Decorative flake floor coatings
A full-broadcast flake finish combines visual texture with a specified coating assembly. Preparation and protective chemistry matter as much as the blend.

What creates the finish
Decorative flakes are broadcast into a compatible base layer and incorporated into a protective coating system. Blend and chip size establish visual scale; the chosen seal and topcoat influence gloss, texture and maintenance.
Where flake fits
Garages, utility spaces and suitable commercial interiors can benefit from its varied appearance. Intended traffic, cleaning methods and exposure determine the actual specification.
Build on a sound prepared surface
Concrete is evaluated for contamination, existing coatings, defects and moisture. Appropriate mechanical preparation, cleaning and repairs precede the selected primer and base assembly.
Broadcast, refine and protect
In a full-flake build, broadcast coverage, removal of excess material, scraping and vacuuming are coordinated before the protective finish. Not every environment uses the same layer sequence.
Chip size, traction and cleaning
Fine and larger chips read differently at room scale. Texture must balance use with practical cleaning; no finish makes wet floors risk-free.
Confirm conditions before choosing chemistry
Epoxy, polyaspartic and urethane can play different roles in compatible assemblies. Doorway sunlight, moisture and temperature need review, especially in Colorado garages.
